Where Metal Roofs Actually Fail

On exposed-fastener systems the screws are the usual culprit. Their neoprene washers harden and shrink with heat and UV, and thermal movement gradually backs the screws out. On standing seam, failures are more often at flashing and transitions than in the seam itself.
